Ehab Eid is a biodiversity conservation specialist with more than 23 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, protected area management, environmental policy, multilateral environmental conventions, climate adaptation, and environmental impact assessment across the Middle East. He has worked extensively with governments, international organizations, and United Nations agencies to develop biodiversity strategies, conservation programs, and environmental policies throughout the region. Ehab currently serves as Chair of the Jordan Species Specialist Group within the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) and holds several leadership roles within the IUCN SSC, including Vice Chair for West Asia and North Africa and Steering Committee Member.
As a SAGE Fellow, Ehab is pursuing his PhD at the University of Tübingen under the supervision of Dr. Nils Anthes, with co-supervision from Prof. Fares Khoury and Prof. Katja Tielbörger. His research focuses on developing the first national ecosystem typology for Jordan and applying the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems framework to assess the risk of ecosystem collapse, thereby supporting ecosystem conservation, restoration planning, and evidence-based environmental decision-making.
