Anas Salahat

Anas Yasser Salahat has professional experience in water resources, groundwater, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, water quality, GIS, climate change, wastewater management, sludge management, and decision support systems. His expertise also includes multi-criteria decision analysis (AHP), water distribution modeling using WaterGEMS, and the assessment of emerging contaminants such as PFAS and microplastics. Throughout his academic and professional career, he has contributed to research and technical projects related to sustainable water resources management, groundwater protection, wastewater treatment, and environmental decision-making. He holds a BSc in civil engineering and an MSc in water and environmental engineering from An-Najah National University, Palestine. His master’s research focused on developing a decision-making tool for selecting appropriate sludge dewatering technologies in Palestine using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). He has also completed several international training programs, including the internationally recognized CIPSEM programme in Germany, as well as advanced training in environmental evaluation and sustainable water management.

As a SAGE Fellow, Anas is pursuing his PhD at the University of Freiburg under the supervision of Prof. Jens Lange. His research focuses on the vulnerability of water resources in the West Bank, investigating groundwater vulnerability, water quality, and the occurrence of emerging contaminants in springs and wells to support science-based decision-making and sustainable water resources management in water-scarce regions.
